Fighting for the Rights of a Doggy Minority
A doggy minority was recently given their time to shine as book author Patricia Black Townsend promotes her latest, “Black is Beautiful, A Celebration of Dark Dogs,” at a special event in Baltimore. The book is designed to raise awareness to the fact black dogs face more difficulty in getting adopted than any other kind of canine. The event’s proceeds went to a myriad of animal welfare organizations, including the SPCA.
Townsend herself is an amateur writer and photographer, who has been a mommy to black dogs for over 18 years. She has also worked as a volunteer for a local animal welfare organization. Hopefully, the book will catch the public’s attention enough to give sweet and dark dogs a barking chance at life.
You can order your own copy of the book by visiting Townsend’s SPCA website.
